Paddy Power Betfair
iOS App Update Validation (Prototype + Unmoderated Testing)
Client / Sector: BBC — Media / education (children’s writing competition)
My role: UX / Information Architecture + Wireframing
Phase: Campaign lifecycle design (pre-competition, live submissions, post-competition showcase)
Problem
Major iOS changes required Paddy Power Betfair to update their app. The team needed to validate a new layout quickly to ensure the updated experience remained usable before further implementation.
What I did
- Built an interactive Axure prototype representing the proposed new layout to make the changes testable early.
- Designed and ran unmoderated remote usability testing using an online tool via UserTesting.com.
- Structured tasks to evaluate whether users could understand and use the updated layout.
- Analysed unmoderated sessions to identify usability issues, confusion points, and layout risks to address before release.
Key decisions / considerations
- Used unmoderated testing to get rapid feedback at scale without heavy scheduling overhead.
- Prototyped at the right fidelity to test layout comprehension and navigation without waiting on build.
Outputs
- Axure prototype for the updated iOS layout
- Unmoderated test setup (tasks + evaluation approach) via UserTesting.com
- Findings summary highlighting what worked, what didn’t, and what to change next
Outcome
Provided evidence-based feedback on the updated layout to help the team refine the app redesign in response to iOS changes.
Methods / Tools
Prototyping (Axure); unmoderated usability testing (UserTesting.com); findings synthesis.
